Sanofi-Aventis future in Alnwick must be secured, says Beith1.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 2nd Jul 2009 Following reports that the Sanofi-Aventis facility in Alnwick is for sale, the local MP Sir Alan Beith plans to meet the management in the very near future. Sir Alan Beith MP says "Sanofi-Aventis is a vital employer in Alnwick employing highly qualified and skilled people and which plays a key role in the pharmaceutical industry and it is extremely important that its future is secured. I am in contact with the management regarding the situation." SanofI-Aventis has announced that it will be restructuring its Research and Development sector. Nearly 200 people are employed at the facility in Alnwick, making it one of the area's largest private sector employers.
