Beith knighted by Queen Elizabeth II

Berwick's Liberal Democrat MP Alan Beith has been officially knighted by Her Majesty the Queen in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

After the ceremonial dubbing with the sword, Sir Alan Beith said

"It was a very special occasion for me and my family and we will treasure the memories for a long time. I was very pleased indeed to have had the knighthood conferred by her Majesty."
