Beith to visit flooded areas

6.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 7th Sep 2008

Sir Alan Beith, whose Berwick constituency has been badly hit by flooding, will visit affected areas during his planned surgery tour this week.

He will visit Powburn, scene of Saturday night's landslides, and Wooler on Monday and will spend time with residents of Rothbury, which has been badly hit by flooding, on Thursday.

Sir Alan Beith said

"I'll be visiting many villages this week to hear how people have been affected and see for myself the effects of the floods and this severe weather. Emergency services and council workers have put in a tremendous effort but many people will be left with serious problems as they try to deal with damage to their homes, vehicles and possessions."
