Alan Beith speaks out on Farepak collapse
12.02.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 24th Oct 2006
Alan Beith, M.P. has taken up the cause of local people hit by the Farepak collapse, where people have lost the money they were putting aside for Christmas hampers.
Alan has raised the issue with Consumer Minister, Ian McCartney, M.P. and with Northumberland Trading Standards. Alan has also supported a Commons motion which "calls upon the Government and the administrator, BDO Stoy Hayward, to do everything in their power to recover and return as much of the company's customers' savings as possible."
Alan comments "It is dreadful to think of families having their Christmas spoiled by this affair. Everyone affected should register their claim in the hope of getting some of the money back, and the authorities need to look carefully into what has happened."
